Medical Assistant
This program prepares students for entry-level employment in a medical health facility. Students study medical law and ethics, terminology, anatomy and physiology, human relations, use and care of diagnostic equipment, venipuncture, injections, pharmacology, universal precautions, vital signs, CPR/first aid, EKG, urinalysis, hematology, microbiology, basic computer operations, front office medical procedures, insurance forms, electronic medical records, and medical billing.

| Medical Assistant | Students are encouraged to follow a pathway of prerequisite medical courses at their home high school prior to enrollment in this program. Prerequisites of Biology, Principles of Health Science*, Medical Terminology, and Health Science Theory are required for automatic enrollment and to earn a CTEC graduation stole. Students who have not met these prerequisites will be added to the program wait list. *Indicates that another Health Science credit can be substituted, such as Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Microbiology, or Pathophysiology |
